The Santa Rosa Plateau, a new series.

- Happy New Year -

A new year, thank goodness! I have to laugh, a bit nervously, with a sigh of relief, and with so much gratitude.

2023 begins in the studio with a new project, highlighting my hikes up at The Santa Rosa Plateau and Ecological Reserve. I invite you to come with me to experience the plateau in oil paints; the trails, wildflowers, vernal pools, and the majestic oak trees. First in this series is "On the Plateau" painted January 1st, 2023. What better way to start the new year than with fresh ideas, fresh canvases and a fresh palette.

Also, I am honored to be conducting a painting demonstration and sharing a painting experience with the Gem of the Valley Art Association, Murrieta, CA. Date: April 3, 2023. You can see the details on my events page.

Cheers to new beginnings, a fresh start, clarity and inspiration.

Cheers to you.

Wishing you all the best for 2023.

Hi Rachelle :) I don't often comment - will be changing that bad habit - but wanted to say that I really enjoy your studies of the coastline. They are strong in their own right and I like the final painting they led to. I'm thrilled you were able to give a painting demo and would have been there if circumstances were right. I hope you write about it - would love to read about your impressions! I just read your blog posts from last fall, beginning with ‘She's Gone…'. The posts are lovely to read. I am glad to have found them :) Keep painting - they clearly come from your heart ❤️

Hi Lisa, It was interesting painting the coastline studies. Painting several versions of the same landscape revealed what I was seeing. The composition would change yet the colors stayed vibrant. As for my painting demonstration, I certainly am writing about it. I'm glad you found my blog, I think I need to do a better job of getting them out there. Thank you for your kind words. Hope to hear from you again. Rachelle
